Company Profile
Top Gear Trading has gone from strength to strength since it was set up eight years ago. Its directors, Lee Hadley and Rob Haynes, turned a 20-year friendship into a successful business partnership after combining the many decades of experience they had gained in the automotive aftermarket and logistics sectors.
In just a few years the company expanded rapidly, its turnover tripled to £1.5 million and the business moved from its former Birmingham and Walsall bases to custom-built premises near Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. Here the company has continued to improve and expand its products and
services, to include:

  • Contract hire and leasing 
  • Bodyshop consumables
  • Alloy wheel and tyre distribution
  • Bespoke alloy wheel projects

Lee Hadley, director 
With more than 20 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket industry, Lee began his career working at the family business, Intercontinental Tyres, in the 1980s.
During this time, he set up a mobile tyre-fitting operation for the trade and retail sectors, which later led to a new company - Wheel Works. The business soon concentrated on the wholesale and retail sectors of the
industry, paving the way for Top Gear Trading in the late 1990s. Family man Lee, a keen sportsman, has in-depth knowledge of automotive retail and oversees Top Gear's autostyling and consumables divisions.

Rob Haynes, director 
Rob's background in purchasing and logistics has been pivotal to the success of Top Gear Trading.
Beginning his career in the 1980s in food industry management, it wasn't long before Rob made the move to the automotive sector, joining Heywood Williams PLC as Distribution Manager for Auto Windscreens.
He was soon appointed a logistics and purchasing director, before joining Lee at Wheel Works in 1998, where they formed Top Gear Trading Ltd. Rob uses his purchasing and logistics expertise to head Top Gear's leasing division.
